Pot Shops and Rubber Sidewalks

Hosted by
More than 450 medical marijuana shops have filed renewals this year to pay business taxes to the city of Los Angeles. Interestingly, that’s about three times as many as are allowed to operate in the city, under Proposition D, the ballot initiative approved by voters last November. Emily Alpert Reyes reported on that for the Los Angeles Times. And an LA City Council committee has voted to conduct a pilot program to replace crumbling sidewalks with a material that’s a bit more resilient. Adrian Glick-Kudler is senior editor at Curbed LA, and spoke to KCRW's Steve Chiotakis about it.
