Clive Owen & Steven Soderbergh: The Knick

Film_Independent-LACMA.jpgThe Knick is a different kind of period piece. The characters - surgeons, nurses and staff at New York's Knickerbocker Hospital - are living and breathing their present, instead of simply recreating something that happened in the past. "I got lit up," says director Steven Soderbergh about what happened when he first read the medical drama written by Jack Amiel and Michael Begler. He took it and moved, very quickly, writing the remaining nine episodes in just 3 months. Clive Owen plays Dr. John Thackery, the new head of surgery and a drug addict. Owen and Soderbergh join Elvis to talk about The Knick, which is on Cinemax. This conversation was recorded in front of a live audience as part of the Film Independent at LACMA screening series.
