Roman Coppola: A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charles Swan III

Hosted by

Roman Coppola first met Charlie Sheen on the set of Apocalypse Now, the 1979 epic war film starring Charlie's dad, Martin, and directed by Roman's dad, Francis. Thirty years later, Roman found himself reaching out to his friend Charlie, the only person he knew could take on the title role of his second feature film, A Glimpse Inside the Mind of Charles Swan III. Sheen plays a graphic designer so devastated after a break-up that he is catapulted to a world between fantasy and reality. Coppola talks about fighting for Sheen despite the fact that he was uninsurable, and perhaps on acting auto-pilot from being on sitcoms for the past several years. Coppola is also a current Oscar nominee, for Best Original Screenplay for Moonrise Kingdom, which he wrote with the film's director, Wes Anderson.
