In his comic novel Clumsy, Jeffrey Brown documents the rise and fall of one of his very first romantic relationships.  Just after his girlfriend broke up with him, he spent weeks reliving their relationship's small, excruciatingly tender moments, putting them all down on paper, panel by panel.  When asked if he found it a painful process, drawing the woman who left him over and over, Jeffrey said that that's what you end up doing after a break up anyway: in your mind, you draw the person's face, over and over.
