Hollywood and Journalism

Hosted by
Reporters from all over the world are converging to cover the ultimate Hollywood event, the Oscars. But keeping stories accurate and balanced in a city that prides itself on selling fiction makes real journalism a dramatically demanding role, especially in the face of increasing vertical integration and globalization. Where does one draw the line between the cult of celebrity and the public's right to know? We look at the buzz and the business, the culture and the commerce, with trade and mainstream reporters, authors, and a Hollywood producer. (Sara Terry guest hosts.)
  • Newsmaker: Mexico's President Fox Visits the US - Mexico's President Vicente Fox is on his first trip to the US since taking office last year. • Reporter's Notebook: Balkan Unrest - Milan Panic, prime minister and defense minister of Yugoslavia in the early 1990s, is now an advisor to the new Yugoslav government of Voyislav Kostunica, and the CEO of ICN Pharmeceuticals.
