Plastic in the Ocean - Where Has It All Gone?

Cups, bags, bottles and drinking straws, many of these single-use plastics end up in the ocean. But according to a new study, it’s not exactly clear how much of this kind of plastic trash is out there in the depths, and what is happening to it. This week, the National Academy of Sciences reported that a team led by Spanish researchers have found that 99% of the debris they expected to find in the ocean simply wasn’t there. So, where did it go? Peter Davison, a marine biologist at the Farallon Institute in Petaluma, California, joins us.
