Wolves, Hunting and the Divide between Red and Blue

A wolf cub tagged OR-7 in the state of Oregon grew up and found his way to California, captivating animal lovers worldwide. The 'Lone Wolf of California' was the first to be seen in the wild in that state in almost 90 years. In Idaho, it's been a different story. OR-9, another male from the same litter went the other way, to be killed by a hunter. When OR-9's dead body was photographed, Idaho's Governor Butch Otter congratulated the hunter, even though the kill was technically illegal.
