When Will the Hollywood Superhero Reflect the Audience That Roots for Him?

Last year, 12 Years a Slave won the Best Picture Oscar. The Butler and The Best Man Holiday were commercial successes, and it looked like a great year for ethnic minorities in Hollywood movies. But research by the Annenberg School at USC shows otherwise. For the most part, blacks, Asians and especially Latinos, aren’t seeing themselves on the screen in anything like their proportions in the general population.
