Californians React to 2003 State of the Union

Hosted by
Last night, President Bush addressed the Congress and the nation on the State of the Union. He restated his case for armed conflict in Iraq, and declared war on AIDS in Africa and the Caribbean. On the domestic front, he announced that he will push for eliminating the tax on corporate dividends and for reforming Medicare. Did George Bush shore up his political base in a part of the country where Al Gore won big in the year 2000? What does the State of the Union mean for the State of the State? We speak with Southern California economists, scholars, environmentalists, activists, and a Republican political strategist about their reactions to last night-s speech.
