California's Historic New Transgender Law

Hosted by

Starting next year, discrimination against transgender students will be illegal in California schools. Students will be able to use the bathrooms and participate in the sports designed for the genders they prefer, not those dictated by biology. That's been the case in LA, San Francisco and other districts, reportedly without any problems. But for some parents, making it law is another matter. What about abuse and harassment? Also, LA Sheriff Lee Baca gets a host of challengers for next year's re-election campaign, including the top deputy who retired under fire.

Image-for-WWLA.jpgOn our rebroadcast of today's To the Point, the campaign to replace Ben Bernanke as head of the Federal Reserve has been called a "circus" that's inappropriate for an appointment important to the global economy.  Does Larry Summer's "prickly' personality” really matter?  What about Janet Yellen's gender?
