Hundreds Protest Fare Hikes

For the first time since 1994, the MTA says it has to raise fares by 60% because of rising costs, a massive deficit, and spending on rail projects. The agency claims that the only alternative is cutting services. Today, approximately 1,500 people showed up for a hearing in a room that holds only 600.
