Coastal Commission's Peter Douglas Retires after 26 Years

For 26 years as executive director, he made it one of the most powerful, most revered and reviled regulatory agencies of its kind. He survived several attempts by developers and private property owners to oust him. But now, lung cancer has forced his retirement at age 68. We hear from his fans and his critics.
