Sizing Up Candidates in the DA Race

Hosted by

The Los Angeles County District Attorney runs the largest agency of its kind in the nation, with 60,000 felony prosecutions each year. The best-known candidate is LA's controversial City Attorney, who once promised not to run for the higher office. But when Steve Cooley announced he'd step down, Carmen Trutanich jumped into the race. With more money and more endorsements than the other five candidates, he has stopped participating in public forums. The other candidates include three African Americans, two of whom are women. Gene Maddaus has been covering the race for the LA Weekly.

The other five candidates for DA are:

Jackie Lacey
John L. Breault, III
Danette E. Meyers
Alan Jackson
Bobby Grace
