Debate for State Controller

Hosted by
More than just pay the bills, California-s State Controller is the watchdog of the state-s treasury, the controller of its fiscal policy. He, or she, sits on 52 boards and commissions, invests pension money, and has the auditing power to keep other politicians fiscally honest. The current Controller, Democrat Kathleen Connell, is out of the job because of term limits. Among the candidates vying to take her place are a veteran Republican legislator and a Democrat who-s never run for political office. We hear more about finance, accountability, and private and public sector experience from Democrat and dot-com millionaire Steve Westly and his Republican rival, State Senator Tom McClintock.
