Governor Schwarzenegger and California's Public Employees

Hosted by
Three measures embraced by Governor Schwarzenegger as needed reform are not doing well in public opinion polls. At this weekend's Republican convention in Anaheim, the Governor threw his arms around a fourth measure, which does show some public approval. If the so-called -Paycheck Protection- initiative passes, members of public employee unions will have to give written consent every year if any part of their dues is spent for politics. For some months, unionized teachers, nurses and firefighters have showed up to protest the Governor's public appearances, and their unions have spent millions of dollars in critical ads on TV. Some have increased their dues especially for that purpose. We hear what that could mean for Democrats in California and hear a debate on the measure.
