LAUSD and the Stanford 9 Tests

Hosted by
Governor Gray Davis and Los Angeles School officials are crowing about the latest results from the Stanford 9 Achievement Tests. For the fourth year in a row, LA Unified elementary schools have raised their scores on the SAT-9. While outside experts agree that the improvements in elementary schools are -remarkable,- everyone also agrees that test results aren-t the only measure of education. We join school board member Genethia Hayes, an educational testing researcher, and a teacher who opposes standardized testing for a look at the scores, what they mean, and a preview of what-s going to happen next year when the Stanford 9 is replaced by tougher examinations.
