Port of LA President Tackles Pollution and Growth

Hosted by
The LA City Council today confirmed Geraldine Knatz to be the first woman Executive Director of the Port of Los Angeles. She says her goal is to make the Port grow, while eliminating health risks by controlling pollution from new ships, trains and trucks. That's just what S. David Freeman wanted to hear. He's the former head of public electric utilities all over the country, including LA's Department of Water and Power. Now, he's President of Mayor Villaraigosa's Port Commission. Can one of California's biggest polluters grow and reduce health risks at the same time? We hear from Friedman, a skeptical environmentalist and the trucking industry.
  • Making News: Supreme Court Ruling on Assisted Suicide and California
