State of the Beaches

Ninety-five percent of California's coastal waters are safe for swimming. But the beaches in urban areas, like LA, Orange County and San Diego, can be dangerously polluted. And the worst are the so-called "baby beaches." Those sheltered inlets where waves don't knock little kids down are also stagnant stews of bacteria that are dangerous to their health.
