Summer Camps

Hosted by
Summer camps are more specialized and more expensive, but still more crowded than ever before. The most coveted camps are already signing kids up for next year. Enter the broker, or counselor, who will do the leg work busy parents don't have time for. But do camps with airstrips and private rooms create the kind of experience parents remember? Do they help kids develop a sense of community or the skills they need for life in an increasingly diversified culture? We talk about the economics and sociology of summer camps with a parent, a professor of social work, and a summer-camp broker.
