Supervisors Vote for Outside Oversight over County Jails

Hosted by

LA Supervisors have voted unanimously to investigate continuing reports of brutality by Sheriff's deputies guarding inmates in LA County jails. But the Sheriff is an elected official and the Board lacks the authority to force reforms. We hear from Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky, Sheriff Lee Baca and the top lawyer from the ACLU, of Southern California who has criticized both the Board and the Sheriff for looking the other way. On our rebroadcast of today's To the Point, is the Republican Party losing its cool?
