Chief Parks Makes Final Appeal to LA City Council

Hosted by
There was high drama at City Hall today as Bernard Parks appeared before a packed Council chambers and accused Mayor Jim Hahn of orchestrating a "conspiracy" to remove him from office. Attired in full uniform, LA's Police Chief denounced the review process as "unfair" and disputed the Police Protective League's claim that he has damaged department morale. Insisting that he deserves to continue as chief, Parks formally asked the Council to intervene. We hear some of what Parks had to say, and speak with Councilmen Mark Ridley-Thomas, Jack Weiss and Dennis Zine who will vote tomorrow on whether to overturn the action of Hahn's appointed Police Commission and give Parks a second five-year term.
