The 'LA Model' of Handling Priest Abuse

Hosted by

In January, the Los Angeles Catholic Archdiocese released voluminous files on sexual misconduct by priests. KCET's SoCal Connected has studied them all and found at least one accusation in 63 percent of all parishes, many of them in Latino communities. In all, 250 priests were identified as pedophiles, and the Archdiocese leads the nation in payouts to survivors, totaling almost a billion dollars. SoCal Connected also found an audio tape of Father Stephen Rossetti, conducting a training session on how Catholic Church officials should handle such cases. Val Zavala is the host of SoCal Connected.
