Playing a Dangerous Game

The organization that runs California high school sports has expanded football playoffs this year to the point that some schools are playing almost as many games as professional teams. That strikes Zócalo Public Square columnist Joe Matthews as a bad idea, given the mounting evidence of a link between repeated blows to the head and long-term brain injuries. The state Legislature has already limited high school football practices. So why not games as well?
