KCRW’s mission is to be a source of music discovery. KCRW is a non-profit, non-commercial community service of Santa Monica College and an NPR affiliate for Southern California.
Our activities online, on the air and in person serve the primary function of promoting the artists by sharing their creativity and artistic expression with our audience.
By signing this release, I, ________ a representative of __________ hereafter known as the “Artist", agree to have the ARTIST performance on __/__/__ audio-recorded, videotaped, and photographed by KCRW.
In consideration of the promotional value to the Artist, the Artist gives permission for KCRW to reproduce, broadcast, webcast, stream, and distribute the materials gathered during the production of the performance by incorporating them into any and all KCRW programming (digital and broadcast) which supports and promotes the station and its mission.
Artist representative agrees to the following:
1. KCRW owns the masters of video and audio recordings of performances done for KCRW. We have no intention of monetizing these sessions and we support the label’s use of these sessions, but we ask that any outside use of these recordings include a KCRW attribution and a notification as to where these will be used.
2. Streaming archive rights in perpetuity. KCRW is not requesting downloads, just the right to stream a performance in perpetuity as we build interest in the artist.
3. We need rights to the full session plus individual songs in both the audio and video format that we record in.
4. KCRW is granted the right to share or stream video and audio on third party platforms such as YouTube, Facebook and other non-commercial partners including VuHaus, NPR Music and other public radio stations. KCRW does not monetize YouTube content, however it is a powerful platform for raising awareness for KCRW and the artists we champion.
