LeRoy brings context and curiosity to every set, presenting jazz not as a museum piece but as an active, expanding language with countless stories still being written. LeRoy Downs, known as “The Jazzcat”, has been an icon in the jazz industry for over twenty years. The Los Angeles jazz radio program & festival host, journalist, television producer, curator and concert series producer began his career with station 88.1 FM KKJZ and has continued to contribute to the art form as broadcaster on several Los Angeles radio stations. He now hosts “Just Jazz,” which for him, is a personal journey that he takes each and every day of his life that gets compressed into his two hours on Sunday nights.
