Anaheim District Elections Controversy Isn't Over

Last year, Anaheim voters passed a resolution that would allow district elections in the city after the ACLU and Latino activists sued over the previous at-large method. Most of this year has been spent on figuring out how to carve up the six districts, and which ones would get to elect council members first. Now, the League of United Latin American Citizens and the Mexican-American Legal Defense and Education Fund are threatening to sue the city after council members left off the only district in which Latinos make up the majority of citizens of voting age in next year's elections. The groups claim such a move is discriminatory, and the Orange County Democratic Party's Central Committee has already passed a resolution condemning council member Jordan Brandman for voting on the measure. The Anaheim Council is expected to finalize their decision tomorrow -- will they change their vote in the face of legal threats?
