KCRW.com is an evolving and growing website. Since the launch of our new site, there have been many questions as to where things are and how things work. This page will help to address some of those concerns.
Where/how do I find it...
- How do I see what song is currently playing?
- Where do I find Ticket Giveaways?
- Where is info on specific KCRW programs?
- Where do I find Audio to listen to?
- How do I find out about upcoming performances?
- Where are the On Demand music archives?
- Where can I pitch program ideas?
- How can I submit music to KCRW DJ's?
- How can I suggest a Guest for Music Programs?
To see what is currently playing on air or on the Live channel stream, go to the On Air/Live tab and click "View Now Playing." This will only appear during music programs.
On the Music Channel tab of the home page, "View Now Playing" will display the current and past song played on the Music Channel stream.
KCRW's playlists are generally updated live while music is playing. Links to the playlists can be found under the Music menu. For the Live Channel, select Track List: Live Channel. To see what's playing on the Music Channel, select Track List: Music Channel. On the playlist page you will be able to search by date via a calendar on the left.
Our daily and weekly "on demand" music programs can be found in two places. The quickest place to check is the Archives page found on the "Archives" menu item. The Archives page lists both available On Demand music show archives on the left side, and recently added general archives on the right hand side. On Demand music archives can also be found on the individual music program pages. You can find all of our music programs listed under the Music menu Overview & Programs page. On the program pages, look under "Recent Shows" for the "Current Show - ON DEMAND." Click " Listen" to launch the audio in the Media Player. All On Demand archives are currently in the Real Audio, Quicktime and Windows Media formats.
Free tickets to KCRW.com Presents shows across the United States can be found on the Music Overview & Programs page and in the calendar listings for shows outside of the Southern California area. Tickets are available on a first come first served basis to eligible KCRW members.
Where are all the programs?
Programs on the new KCRW website are organized into three general catagories: Music, News and Talk. Under each of these menu items you will find a link to "Overview & Programs." When selected, the Overview & Programs link will take you to a page featuring a listing of all the programs in that category, as well as information about the program and host. Clicking on the program name or photo will take you to the page for that program. There you will find past show archives, info on upcoming shows and links to listen to audio from the show. Further clicking on the show title or "Full Details" for each show will take you to a page with greater detail which varies greatly depending on the show.
Another way to find past shows is to search the Archives from the Archives page. This page displays a list of our archived music programs to the left and recently archived features to the right.
Links to all programs can also be found on the "KCRW A - Z" page
Everywhere on the site there is a little headphone icon (), there is something to listen to. When the icon is clicked, the KCRW media player will open up and start streaming audio as long as you have Real Audio, QuickTime or Windows Media Player* installed. Please see our audio help page if you are having difficulty hearing audio.
* Windows Media currently only works using Internet Explorer under the Windows operating system.
Most upcoming shows are featured on the portlet on the home page. Upcoming on-air musical performances are listed on the overview pages for their respective programs. Typically, upcoming bands on Morning Becomes Eclectic will be posted one to two weeks ahead of schedule.
KCRW's General Manager and Program Director is Jennifer Ferro. All program submissions should be directed to her attention. All proposals submitted for on-air consideration should include an audio demo, as well as a one-page synopsis of your idea.
