Proposition 37 is a hot button issue on this year's California ballot. The bill would require the labeling of all genetically engineered foods or "GMO's" on food packaging. LA Times science reporter Rosie Mestel weighs the pros and cons of both sides of Prop 37 and New York Times writer Mark Bittman outlines his ideal food label which would require more than just a label for GMO's. Professor Per Pinstrup-Andersen suggests that the development of genetically engineered seeds could help end world hunger and activist Vandana Shiva lays out her reasoning for fighting against seed patents. Jonathan Gold reviews the latest manifestation of cult favorite Starry Kitchen. Russ Parsons recalls his agritourism trip through Hawaii. and Hawaiian chef Sam Choy discusses one of the islands' signatures dishes - poke. Market Report ()
Nate Peitso owns Maggie's Farm. This time of year he has a lot of bitter greens like frisee, escarole and kale. He likes to pair sweet fall fruits like persimmons with escarole in a salad and likes to highlight frisee in a lardons salad with a poached egg and bacon.
Akasha Richmond is the chef and owner of Akasha Restaurant in Culver City. She's excited to cook with Asian greens as well as bitter greens from Maggie's Farm.
Both Peitso and Akasha Restaurant will be represented at Localicious at the Annenberg Beach House on Sunday, November 4.

Per Pinstrup-Andersen is a professor of food, nutrition and public policy at Cornell University, and the 2001 World Food Prize Laureate. The professor believes that combating world hunger must include the use of genetically modified foods.

Jonathan Gold reviews the new manifestation of Starry Kitchen, the third location for this unusual restaurant that has garnered a cult following. This time the restaurant is housed in Tiara Café, a breakfast and lunch spot in LA's Fashion District. Jonathan recommends the Singapore chile crab, bo la lat, xo fried rice, claypot striped bass, crispy tofu balls, apple fritters and osmanthus panna cotta. Take note, if you want to order the Singapore Crab be sure to call two days in advance to reserve it.
