Who Owns Antiquities?

Listen to/Watch entire show:

Who_Owns_Antiquities.jpgIn his new book, Who Owns Antiquity: Museums and the Battle over Our Ancient Heritage, James Cuno, Director of the Chicago Art Institute and former director of London's venerated Courtauld Institute, argues that the treasures of antiquity belong to all of civilization. New guidelines for museums that collect antiquities have just been issued by the Association of Art Museum Directors. Cuno and AAMD President Michael Conforti join KCRW general manager Ruth Seymour and art critic Edward Goldman in discussion.
