Danny Boyle
Listen to/Watch entire show:

Tension and home play a key part in the work of director Danny Boyle. From Trainspotting, Shallow Grave and 28 Days Later to his latest, Sunshine.
Set 50 years into the future, Sunshine follows a team of astronauts who are sent to re-ignite the sun and save the world from an interminable ice age. Their mission goes smoothly until they pick up a distress signal from a previous mission that was thought to have been lost years ago.
Boyle talks about the lack of support for film in the UK, the importance of the idea of "home" in his films, the influence of Graham Greene and Henrik Ibsen, the sense of yearning that drives him as a director and his love of music that stems from growing up in Manchester, England.
