Elvis speaks with fashion designer, writer-director-producer Tom Ford about his feature film debut, A Single Man, an adaptation of Christopher Isherwood's novel of the same name. The film has received rave reviews and recently garnered several Independent Spirit and Golden Globe nominations, two of those for lead actor Colin Firth.
Ford expounds on applying his designer skills to filmmaking, his approach to script writing and incorporating elements of David Scearce's earlier draft, the surprising complexity of editing, his fear of shouting "Cut!" on the first day of filming, his and Isherwood's spiritual views, and the all-important casting of Firth in the lead role.
