Steve McQueen: Shame
Listen to/Watch entire show:
Steve McQueen is an artist in the purest sense; he speaks as if rapidly sketching ideas using words as his medium. His work has spanned all genres and variations including sculpture, photography, and war art. His 2008 film, Hunger, won him the Camera d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival. His latest film, Shame, is a sexually and emotionally graphic look into the life of a man struggling with a crippling sex addiction, and has garnered some attention for opening on December 2 with an NC-17 rating.
This week, Elvis Mitchell joins Steve McQueen at the London Hotel in West Hollywood to explore the greater themes of McQueen's art and work, from the struggle with intimacy to the representation of race in film. Learn why his fearless approach to controversial subject matter makes him on of the most exciting artists of his generation.
