The Treatment
Justin Lin: Fast and Furious 6
Rue McClanahan and Bea Arthur in "Fast & Furious?" According to Justin Lin, drawing inspiration from "Golden Girls" isn't as weird as you might think. Recorded live at the LA Film Festival.
Justin Lin got his start directing indie films, like 2002's Better Luck Tomorrow, about a group of over-achieving Asian-American students who decide to spice up their lives by dipping into a little criminal activity. Now, Lin's forte is big studio films, having directed four of the six in the Fast & Furious franchise. In this conversation, recorded in front of a live audience at the LA Film Festival, he talks about how he still brings that gritty, character-driven, DIY ethos to every film he does, regardless of the budget.
