There's no question that Gravity will go down in history as one of the most innovated and celebrated films of 2013. Director Alfonso Cuarón collaborated for four years with friend and cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki and visual effects supervisor Tim Webber to create some of the technology that made the film possible. That kind of cinematic impact is exactly what Cuarón strives for in his work, and it harkens back to his "joyful experience of the screen" as a kid. He talks about the films of the 1960 that inspired him, plus the (very) frank advice he got from longtime friend and fellow Mexican filmmaker, Guillermo del Toro.
