KCRW receives the majority of its operating funds from individual members, and for less than the cost of a daily newspaper, you too can support some of the most important programs on radio. Your membership provides us with the dollars to support NPR and PRI programs and KCRW produced shows like To the Point, The Treatment, Left, Right & Center and Which Way, L.A.?. Your annual subscription allows us to produce Morning Becomes Eclectic with its dynamic line-up of live performances and music shows with DJs who handpick their music. This is a singular achievement in a time of anonymous, automated radio. Become a member and ensure KCRW has the resources to sustain news and music services that go beyond the borders of public radio.

Description of KCRW Membership Levels

While there are numerous levels of KCRW Membership listed below, you may donate any amount you wish. Installment plans are available for membership levels of $365 or higher. If you are interested in a sustained monthly giving program that allows your membership to auto-renew itself, consider our Star Subscriber levels.

$25: Basic member benefits include The Guide - KCRW’s monthly newsletter, and eligibility for Ticket Giveaways. (While we do not offer a Membership Card for donations less than $50, you can find your membership number and expiration date printed above your name and address on The Guide.)

$50: Choice of 1 KCRW Premium, plus the Fringe Benefits Discount Card, The Guide - KCRW’s monthly newsletter, and eligibility for Ticket Giveaways.

$100: Choice of 2 select KCRW Premiums or 1 special $100 KCRW Premium, plus the Fringe Benefits Discount Card, The Guide - KCRW’s monthly newsletter, and eligibility for Ticket Giveaways.

$150: Choice of 3 select KCRW Premiums or 1 special $100 KCRW Premium and 1 KCRW Premium, plus the Fringe Benefits Discount Card, The Guide - KCRW’s monthly newsletter, and eligibility for Ticket Giveaways.

Star Membership

Star Membership is our Monthly Sustaining Membership program. You can join anytime of the year and by doing so, you authorize to have $10, $20, or $32 a month (at $120/yr, $240/yr or $384/yr) applied to your credit card every 30 days.  

Star Members receive the Fringe Benefits Discount Card, The Guide - KCRW’s monthly newsletter, eligibility for Ticket Giveaways, and (depending on the monthly payment schedule) the choice of 1 or 2 KCRW premiums or an Angel premium.

Star Membership is convenient as you never have to remember when you need to renew. All Star Memberships are set to auto-renew in January of every year at which point you’ll receive a new Fringe Benefits Discount Card and can, again, select your KCRW Premium(s).  

We want you to stay a KCRW Star forever, but you may cancel your subscription after a minimum of six monthly installments by contacting the KCRW Membership Department at 800-600-KCRW (5279).

Angels and Archangels

We offer special Angel Premiums to our subscribers who can pledge just one dollar a day or more for a year. You may pay all at once or in five equal monthly installments on your credit card. Payments are charged every 30 days. Shipping and handling charges are waived for Archangels.

The Fringe Benefits Discount Card, The Guide - KCRW’s monthly newsletter, eligibility for Ticket Giveaways are included with Angel and Archangel Memberships. All Angels and Archangels also receive a personal invitation to attend KCRW's exclusive Annual Angel Gala. In addition, Angels and Archangels can attend Matt's Movies screenings.

$365 Angel: Choice of 3,000 Frequent Flyer Miles OR any ONE Angel Premium (CD Club, Bookworm's Bookclub, Cookbook Club) OR select any KCRW Premiums (t-shirt, sweatshirt, mug, etc.).

$500 Angel: Choice of 5,000 Frequent Flyer Miles OR any ONE Angel Premium (DVD Club, CD Club, Bookworm's Bookclub, Cookbook Club) OR select any KCRW Premiums (t-shirt, sweatshirt, mug, etc.).

$1,000 Archangel: Choice of 10,000 Frequent Flyer Miles OR any TWO Angel Premiums (DVD Club, CD Club, Bookworm's Bookclub, Cookbook Club) OR select any KCRW Premiums (t-shirt, sweatshirt, mug, etc.).

$1,500 Archangel: Choice of 15,000 Frequent Flyer Miles OR any TWO Angel Premiums (DVD Club, CD Club, Bookworm's Bookclub, Cookbook Club) OR select any KCRW Premiums (t-shirt, sweatshirt, mug, etc.).

$2,000 Archangel: Choice of 20,000 Frequent Flyer Miles OR any TWO Angel Premiums (DVD Club, CD Club, Bookworm's Bookclub, Cookbook Club) OR select any KCRW premiums (t-shirt, sweatshirt, mug, etc.).

KCRW has an annual membership renewal cycle. Members can renew their membership up to three months prior to their expiration date. New and Renewal Gifts (excluding Monthly Sustaining Memberships – “Star Subscribers”) will give you 12 months of membership to KCRW.

Additional Gifts

Additional Gifts are donations made in the 0-9 months after your initial or renewal gift is made. Although members can only renew their membership once a year, they can always give an Additional Gift as many times as they like. Additional Gifts do not extend the length of a membership.
 
Additional Gifts of $50 or more are eligible to receive a premium and are automatically entered in all available sweepstakes. Some members even give each pledge drive to take advantage of the great premiums!

Upgrading Membership

If you donate the full amount of the next level of membership, your membership will be upgraded to that level and extended for another full year. These levels of upgrading membership are $50, $365, $500 and $1,000.

Refunds and Premium Exchange

All contributions to KCRW are non-refundable. Premiums may be ordered at the time of donation and may be exchanged only if defective or sent in error.

Your membership number is a five or six digit number located above your name and address on all KCRW mailings and is located on the right side of your Fringe Benefits Discount Card. You will be asked for your membership number for Ticket Giveaways and when making reservations for Matt's Movies. If you don't have your member number - don't worry. You can simply give your contact information, including a contact phone number. To get your member number, please contact the KCRW Membership Department via email at membership@kcrw.org  or phone at 310-314-4635.

Please let the KCRW Membership Department know if you have moved, changed your name, phone number, e-mail, or made other changes to your personal information. Our Fringe Benefits Discount Card offers our members discounts at over 900 Southland locations including restaurants, record and book stores, museums, and music & performing arts centers. When you join KCRW at the $50 level or higher we'll send you a handy plastic card and directory. Since the plastic card may take 6 weeks to arrive, we'll send you a temporary Fringe Benefits Discount Card in the form of a postcard which should arrive within 1 week of your donation. Members must have received a temporary or permanent Fringe Benefits card with member number in order to receive discounts. Donations cannot be rush-processed in order to take advantage of a discount as a courtesy to other members who have made prior donations.

The Fringe Benefits Discount Card will include only the one or two names that are on your account. If using two names, both people on the account must reside at the same address. To order an additional Fringe Benefits Discount Card (cost $5), report a lost card or upgrade to the Fringe Benefits level, contact the KCRW Membership Department via email at membership@kcrw.org  or 310-314-4635.

Matt's Movies

Matt's Movies is our monthly movie screening program - for Angel and Archangel members. Be the first to see the movies that eventually everyone will be talking about. Reservations must be made by phone once the movie has been announced on-air and please have your Angel or Archangel member number handy when making reservations. The Matt’s Movies reservation line is 310-314-4688.

Ticket Giveaways

KCRW offers Ticket Giveaways every day (up to five times!) to concerts, movies, festivals and other events around Southern California. In addition, there are online giveaways for KCRW.COM Presents in San Francisco, New York, and Washington, D.C. All current KCRW members are eligible to win tickets every 90 days on a first come, first served basis. If you are a winner, you will be asked to provide your member number and contact information. Individuals are only allowed to have one KCRW member account with which to win tickets. All Ticket Givaways are non-transferrable. The phone number for Ticket Giveaways is 877-600-KCRW (5279).

The Guide is KCRW's monthly newsletter and program guide - featuring upcoming events, news and information about your favorite Southern California radio station. You can find Top Ten lists from your favorite Music Programmers as well as updates to our Fringe Benefits Directory.
 
Frequent Flyer Miles.

Frequent Flyer Miles on American, Delta and United are available as a premium at the Angel and Archangel levels. At the time of your donation we'll ask for your frequent flyer number and the name on the mileage account.

It generally takes three or four weeks from the time we process your donation for the miles to be credited to your account. Currently Delta is the only airline that will notify you immediately via email once the miles are posted (if we have your email address on file). Otherwise, you will see the miles on your next account statement from the airline.
 
KCRW Premiums (Thank You Gifts).

KCRW has a variety of Premiums which you may choose as a Thank You gift for your donation. During our twice-yearly pledge drives, we have an even more extensive selection of Thank You gifts available. Shipping fees are required for some Premiums, so please include these fees with your donation. Premiums may take 6-8 weeks to reach you and we thank you for your patience. You may designate one alternate shipping address for your Premium(s) per donation.

KCRW accepts the following methods of payment for donations: credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express), cashier’s checks, money orders and personal checks. If you absolutely must pay your donation in cash, please contact the KCRW Membership Department by phone at 310-314-4635.

Pledge Drives.

KCRW has two, 11-day Pledge Drives each year. The first pledge drive occurs in late January/early February. The second pledge drive occurs in early/mid- August. KCRW offers special Premiums, free bonus items and sweepstakes prizes during these pledge drives.

Gift Memberships.

Giving a KCRW Membership is a great gift. If you are mailing or calling in a donation - along with your information - we will need the name(s), mailing address, phone and e-mail (optional) of the person(s) to whom you are giving the gift membership. If donating online, you can designate the donation as a gift membership - you will then be prompted for the gift recipient information.

We will send the gift recipient a postcard with their gift membership information as well as any information on KCRW Premiums you have chosen for them.

Matching Gifts.

If your employer participates in a Matching Gift program, they will match the tax deductible portion of your contribution. Contact the Human Resources or Community Relations Department of your employer to obtain a Matching Gift form. Please note that Matching Gifts will not increase your membership level or overall donation because it is a tax-deductible donation from your employer.
Complete the Employee portion of the form and mail it to: KCRW Matching Gifts, 1900 Pico Boulevard, Santa Monica, CA 90405. A list of Matching Gift companies is available on our web site.

KCRW, a non-profit public radio station, is wholly owned and operated by Santa Monica College. Contributions to KCRW are tax-deductible to the extent allowed under Internal Revenue Code Section 170(b). If you received any premium(s) as part of your donation, the amount of your contribution that is deductible, for federal income tax purposes, is limited to the amount by which your gift exceeds the fair market value of the premium(s) you receive [i.e., the value of your premium(s) will reduce the amount of your tax deduction].

KCRW does not trade or sell mailing or e-mail addresses. Mailing and e-mail addresses are used for KCRW business only and for special offers for KCRW members and listeners.

Occasionally we make our member names available to other local, culturally-related organizations in which we think you may have an interest. KCRW does not exchange lists with any political party or advocacy organization.
