The Pinker Tones: Modular

It doesn't take a detective to figure out that The Pinker Tones are one of our favorite bands here at KCRW.  For nearly a decade, the Barcelona-based duo of Mister Furia and Professor Manso have practiced a unique brand of musical alchemy that fuses hummable pop melodies with hip-twisting electronic break beats and topped with a decidedly international flavor, and this kind of eclectic recipe has always found a home amongst our DJs and listeners alike....

The Pinker Tones are one of our favorite bands here at KCRW. For nearly a decade, the Barcelona-based duo of Mister Furia and Professor Manso have practiced a unique brand of musical alchemy that fuses hummable pop melodies with hip-twisting electronic break beats and topped with a decidedly international flavor, and this kind of eclectic recipe has always found a home amongst our DJ's and listeners alike. Consequently they have had great success on their various appearances on

Morning Becomes Eclectic, as well as performing a stellar DJ set at one of our

Sounds Eclectic concert evenings, and they have been a lynchpin of Nacional Records' premiere line-up of Latin Alternative superstars.

Modular

, their fourth studio album, they have upped the ante with the addition of a full-time drummer, lending a more-driving pulse to their sound. However their trademark percolating synths and hip-hop-flavored rhymes still dominate the Tones' tones. Echoes of Kraftwerk, Depeche Mode, Ladytron and Beck flit around, while Furia & Manso stake their claim as the best Latin Alternative band around.
