Seventeen-year old jazz pianist Austin Peralta, son of filmmaker Stacy Peralta, performs live-on-tape at 2 pm. Peralta started playing classical piano at a very early age and discovered jazz at the age of 6. He looks like a typical westside skateboarder but he sounds like McCoy Tyner when he is seated at the keyboard. He has recorded several albums with jazz heavyweights for the Japanese market (on Sony), but has yet to sign with a US label.

This is his KCRW debut. He’s working with saxophonist Zane Musa, Cuban superbassist Carlitos del Puerto and drummer Joey Giachello.
