President Obama has joined almost 150 world leaders in Paris today for a two-week climate change conference. Also today, Bill Gates and the leaders of 20 countries, including the US, are announcing Mission Innovation — a program to increase funding for clean energy research and development.

And President François Hollande of France said that global warming is a security threat on par with terrorism. Others have made more direct links.

Next, Dan Marshall lived a pretty carefree existence until his father was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig’s disease and his mother's cancer returned. Marshall put everything on hold and returned to his childhood home in Salt Lake City, Utah. His new memoir, Home is Burning, chronicles that period.

Finally, this year is the 50th anniversary of A Charlie Brown Christmas, and tonight on ABC there will be a star-studded TV event to commemorate it. The producer of the original special says that the job came to him in a roundabout way — originally, he wanted to make a documentary about Peanuts creator Charles Schultz.
