FROM THIS EPISODE

It’s looking good for the GOP to take over the Senate. We get the latest on the midterm elections. Plus, the Santa Monica Airport has sparked a debate between the rich and the super rich; we look at the fight to close this municipal airport. Also, KCRW music librarian Eric J. Lawrence takes us beyond the Monster Mash and Thriller with a look at more obscure Halloween music. And there’s not a lot of candy at the box office this weekend. We look at this week’s film offerings. And we talk about how one woman is changing the conversation about euthanasia around the country.

Santa Monica Airport Fight 6 MIN, 27 SEC

The future of the Santa Monica Airport is at the center of a fight between the rich and the super rich. People who live in the wealthy neighborhood around the airport have been agitating for years to shut it down. But the city’s hands have been tied by an agreement with the Federal Aviation Administration to keep the airport open. That agreement runs out in July next year. So that brings us to next week’s election, where there are two competing measures on Tuesday’s ballot regarding the airport.
