But the second largest public school district in the United States is still a nightmare for many parents to navigate. Do they have enough choice for their kids—or too much? Are magnet schools, charters and special programs creating a new kind of segregation? Also, what’s next for civilian oversight of the scandal-plagued LA Sheriff’s Department?
