Is it Time for Sam to Scram?

You may see the slogan on bumper stickers if a local politico has his way. The message is that Sam Zell should sell the Los Angeles Times and leave town. It comes after the latest round of staff cuts and the final appearance of the Opinion and Book section in yesterday's paper. Also, an update on the fire near Yosemite and ballot arguments about same-sex marriage.

Yosemite Valley is open to visitors, but air quality is poor. That's the latest after what's called the Telegraph Fire near Mariposa knocked out power lines, forcing Valley concessions to run on auxiliary generators.

Kindergarteners Brought into Same-Sex Marriage Fight ()

If same-sex marriage is not repealed in California, kindergartners will have to be taught the virtues of gay and lesbian matrimony. That’s according to language being proposed for Proposition 8, the initiative on the November ballot that would over turn the legalization of same sex marriage by the State Supreme Court.
