Monsanto has just dumped $4.2 million into the campaign to defeat Prop 37 on November's ballot. It would require the labeling of all genetically modified food. Do California consumers really need to know? We hear from both sides. Also, even though it's illegal, is it ethical for cyclists to run red lights and stop signs? When we asked that question on Facebook, we got 90 responses almost immediately. We hear how bike riders disagree. Proposition 37: Battle over Genetically Modified Foods ()
Polls show a lot of support for Proposition 37 on California's November ballot, at least for the moment. Prop 37 would require the labeling of genetically modified food, and this week, Monsanto contributed $4.2 million to the "No" campaign, raising the total to $25 million. That's ten times what supporters have raised so far.

Ethical Cycling ()
Randy Cohen caused a firestorm recently with a piece on the op-ed page of the New York Times. That paper's former "ethicist," and a bicycle rider, he wrote, "I routinely run red lights, and so do you" [even though] "my behavior vexes pedestrians, drivers and even some of my fellow cyclists." He argued that, while it is illegal, it is "ethical." We asked the question on KCRW's Facebook page and got 90 answers in less than an hour.
