Councilman Proposes Barriers for Venice Boardwalk After Hit-and-Run ()
Saturday’s hit-and-run incident on the Venice boardwalk left one person dead and 11 injured. It’s being investigated by the LAPD’s Robbery-Homicide Division. The LA Times reports that 38-year-old Nathan Louis Campell, the suspect who turned himself in, might have spent time in a Colorado jail for trespassing and shoplifting. Saturday’s Los Angeles Times carried an editorial titled, “Don’t Run Again, Sheriff Baca.” It sites what it calls “an extraordinary cascade of scandals” including alleged beating of inmates at Los Angeles County jails, and an FBI investigation into alleged criminal wrongdoing. What are Baca’s plans for next year’s re-election?

If you’ve made the NeverBuilt show at the Architecture & Design Museum in mid-Wilshire, you probably know that Disneyland was almost built in Burbank, rather than Anaheim. Another project that might have been was a gigantic park with an aquatic theme in Long Beach.
