From KCRW Music Publicity Director Rachel Reynolds:

On New Years Day I joined about 150 other brave souls on the beach in Venice for an annual tradition: the Venice Penguin Swim. A dip into the chilly Pacific (56 degrees!) to celebrate the New Year.

The weather was warm (in the 70’s), but the waves were big. My sister warned me not to do it. Someone who overheard me talking about it at a coffee shop that morning called me crazy. But for me, it was something I had to do.

This kind of event is what makes LA – particularly Venice – special and it was really fun to join the diverse crowd, which included some out-of-towners and many locals, including musician Christopher Hawley.
