For over two decades I have had the honor of hosting the Monterey Jazz Festival. Since 1958, they have undoubtedly been the premiere jazz festival on the West Coast. No matter which school of thought you come from, names like Dizzy Gilespie, Billie Holiday, Charles Mingus, Miles Davis, Max Roach, Bobby Hutcherson and Louis Armstrong, to Immanual Wilkins, Robert Glasper, Christian McBride, Christian Sands, Vijay Iyer, Rudresh Mahanthappa, Terri Lyne Carrington and Esperanza Spaulding set the tone, set the standard, and set the bar for excellence in music.

It is a blast to be present for history-making music, and KCRW is giving you the opportunity to win a set of Monterey Jazz Festival VIP Passes for the weekend. This is not just a series of concerts, it is a life-changing experience to be immersed in the music of today, a fabric that weaves into your soul and that you wear for eternity.

Memories are really the most valuable thing that we own. Those when we are surrounded by loved ones and unforgettable experiences. Music is the elixir that permeates your body and finds its home in the magnitude of your being. It immediately brings you back to the emotions that you felt at specific stages throughout your lifetime. It's also one of the reasons that you can't turn away from KCRW. It's because yes, you get a little nostalgia, but you also learn, grow, increase your knowledge, and become a newer version of yourself because of it.

So please, don’t delay, this sweepstakes ends tomorrow at midnight! Your monthly donation at any level supports your favorite station and enters you for a chance to win a pair of VIP passes to the best and most famous festival on the West Coast, The Monterey Jazz Festival.* I'll be there for sure, and I look forward to having you with me as a fellow family member at KCRW!

Sincerely,
LeRoy Downs "The Jazzcat"
