KCRW's August Volunteer of the Month

Written by

Meet Matt Moore! Four years ago, Matt began his time as a Summer Marketing Intern and has been holding it down in the studio as a production assistant for Garth Trinidad every other Friday night since. His calm and patient demeanor, along with his sharp attention to detail and willingness to jump in when needed, always made him stand out over the years. As Garth puts it, Matt is "quiet, easy going, consistent, and always on point." For these reasons and more, Matt is our August Volunteer of the Month!

Here's Matt in his own words...

I grew up in Richmond, VA. I have two sisters. Caroline in Portland and Allison in Santa Barbara.

Web Developer/Multimedia Designer/Rideshare Driver.

2009. I started listening to Morning Becomes Eclectic every day on my 1+ hour commute to my internship in Beverly Hills.

I did the Summer Marketing Internship in 2015. I'd already been a fan for years.

P.A. mostly for Garth Trinidad. I've been doing his show since 2015.

Toss up. Filling in on Dan Wilcox's show last minute on a whim, only to walk-in on Henry Rollins and Teri Gender Bender (of Les Butcherettes) finishing up a super-rare in-studio "guest-artist" show...or...P.A.ing for Garth Trinidad on the first ever live music show broadcast out of the new KCRW building.

If you could get on the mic and say one sentence on the air, what would it be?

This is KCRW.

Favorite thing to do outside the station?

Skateboard.

What does KCRW mean to you?

KCRW is the like radio home of Southern California. There's a lot of eclectic music mixes and podcasts out there now, but KCRW is special because its like my SoCal soundtrack, and even the news and culture shows keep what's going on in SoCal relevant to me, regardless of whether I happen to be in L.A., or on the West Coast or even overseas.

And to us, you mean a person we can count on through and through. Even though this month is the end of your volunteership with us, there will always be a place for you at KCRW. Thank you for devoting your time and skills with us, we're so happy you were apart of the team and in the KCRW family!
