Hi there,

Last month, we lost one of KCRW's most beloved family members, Eric J. Lawrence, who held down Sunday nights with his show Dragnet for years. Eric had encyclopedic knowledge about music, and just about anything that piqued his interest, and he was the kindest man you'd ever meet. He started as a volunteer in the mid-90s, and soon became my assistant, helping us in the music department enticing members with his giveaway copy. He later held court in his own domain, KCRW's legendary music library.

I want you to know how close the music family is here at the station. Most of us have known each other for a long, long time. We hear Chris Douridas sharing the songs he loves with us every Sunday from noon–3 PM, but did you know he was the Music Director from 1990–1998 and hosted Morning Becomes Eclectic? He also introduced the world to Beck and countless other artists. Our current Music Director, Anne Litt, joined us in the mid-90s as a DJ. Jeremy Sole will celebrate his sweet sixteen on air in April. And then we have our newer DJs: José, Francesca, Wyldeflower, Tyler Boudreaux, Nassir, and SiLVA. Seems like we've known them forever!

We have celebrated so many of life’s milestones together, we’ve celebrated the births of sons and daughters. We've toasted marriages, high-fived kids’ graduations, and have held each other tight through rough times. In the words of The Pointer Sisters, “We Are Family”... And so are you. Celebrate life with us, if you love what you hear, please make $20 monthly contribution, or whatever donation makes sense to you. Our ears and hearts are open 24/7

Sincerely,

Ariana Morgenstern

Executive Producer, Music Department

P.S. This weekend only, when you rejoin at a $10 or more monthly contribution and choose one of our food bank partners instead of a thank you gift, we’ll double the amount of meals for those in our extended SoCal family.
