Save Our Summer: The essential cost of KCRW

Written by

Hi there,

Do you review your bank statements each month? I do. It’s also when I reflect on my essential costs and on the prior months’ activities that enriched my life. KCRW appears on my statement between Spectrum Internet, DWP (every other month), and a restaurant or two where I’ve shared laughs and cries with friends. KCRW is a constant source of hope and connection for me, as essential as water, power, internet, and friendships. I feel lucky to be a part of this creative, curious, and LA-spirited community as a member and in my capacity as KCRW’s CFO.

It’s barely June, and already 2023 has felt like a wild ride: energy and environmental crisis, interest rates and inflation, bank instability, parts of the economy slowing down while others areas speeding up. Like other public media stations nationwide, KCRW has been hit hard by these headwinds, and we’re not sure what the rest of 2023 holds in store. Donations from our members keep the station running, and we need your support during our Save Our Summer Fundraiser.

A monthly donation is the most meaningful — it helps us plan for the year ahead. And you can sweeten the deal: the first 73 people who commit to giving monthly today will EACH unlock an additional $300 for KCRW thanks to the KCRW Champions Fund. Donate $20 monthly today and it’ll have the most meaningful impact for KCRW.

If monthly giving is not an option for you right now, a one-time donation during this drive will still make a significant impact for the programs and events you love. Consider sharing the love and gift a membership to your friends and loved ones.

We’re planning an amazing lineup of Summer Nights events this year, and if you didn’t get a chance to experience Open House at SoFi Stadium or CAAM, we’re working on making more happen soon. And don’t miss our amazing Live From sessions — KCRW’s intimate artist performances and conversations. I am currently obsessed with this one. Be a part of KCRW by renewing your support.

We’re always on for you.
