Weekly Volunteer Application
Volunteers start out in audience services at the front desk of our offices during business hours. This assignment consists of answering incoming phone calls ranging from listener inquiries, to standard business calls, to many things in between and beyond.
If you pursue a volunteer position, it's important that you take the commitment seriously. The minimum time commitment is one two- or three-hour shift, one day a week, for a minimum of three months. The shifts are as follows:
7:00A - 9:00A
9:00A - 12:00N
12:00N - 3:00P
3:00P - 6:00P
After a three-month period of volunteering in the office, volunteers may also help in another capacity if there is an appropriate position available. Some volunteers assist music programmers during their live broadcasts, answering listener questions and creating the playlist. Those with computer skills contribute their time helping to maintain our systems and manage our ever-growing social media platforms, sorting email, and programming in HTML, among other things. Other volunteers help out with a variety of special projects in and around the station.
Volunteer activity generally takes place on weekdays, during office hours. For new volunteers we, unfortunately, do not have weekend or evening shifts. We try to be as accommodating as possible, but if the above time constraints preclude you from donating time on a regular basis, you may consider volunteering at our events. We have a wide variety of events throughout the city to get engaged with and start your volunteer process.
