Below the Ten: Life in South LA asks, what is it like to live in South LA in 2016? Obviously there is no one answer. Everyone has their own individual experience, but reporter David Weinberg spent a lot of time with a handful of people who have deep ties to South LA , and the result is this collection of stories.

You'll meet people working to stop gang violence, a beauty queen who sees a bright future for Compton, a Hurricane Katrina refugee, and a family that left the neighborhood to buy a house, a street vendor and many more.

The series is supported by a grant from the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation.
